SST Procedures

  1.  Teacher makes SST referral in guidance office.  (Word or PDF version of form.)

  2.  Guidance schedules SST meeting.  (Meetings will either be Monday or Friday mornings at 8:00 AM .)

  3.  Teacher notifies parent of SST referral.

 

SST Purpose:

*

To share information about a child
* To discuss interventions tried
* To suggest other interventions
* To receive professional support
* To determine the next stop
Items to bring to the SST meeting:
* Permanent records (guidance)
* Current grades (teachers)
* Student work (teachers)
* SST forms (guidance)

 

Two Possible Outcomes

***Attempt new interventions in the classroom (effectiveness share with guidance)

***Request an Evaluation Planning Meeting (EPM)

 

  4.  Parent contacted by teacher - SST information shared.  If Evaluation Planning Meeting is NOT requested, teacher calls and states:  "New interventions..."  If Evaluation Planning Meeting IS requested, teacher calls and states:  "We would like to pursue other options which may include some other testing and consultation with other professionals.  We will be sending some forms for you to complete."

  5.  Guidance distributes EPM packet forms to appropriate staff members.  (social/medical, vision/hearing, cumulative record, and speech forms)

  6.  Completed EPM packet forms are returned to guidance.

  7.  Guidance sends EMP packet to the school psychologist.

  8.  School psychologist schedules the EPM with school team and parents

 

EPM Meeting  Purpose: 
* To share information about a child
* To discuss interventions tried
* To suggest other interventions
* To determine the need for further evaluation (possible testing and observations)

 

  9.  Evaluations and observations are conducted if appropriate.

10.  Final Evaluation Planning Meeting to share results of testing and determine if any changes in child's educational placement is necessary.
