1. 0 distance covered in 20 seconds = 0 / 20 = 0 m/s
2. 280 m - 40 m = 240 meters traveled; 60 s - 40 s = 20 seconds elapsed; 240 m/20 s = 12 m/s (amazingly fast!)

Tortoise: straight line climbing from 0 to 100 meters over 40
minutes; Hare: steeper slope for part of the time, horizontal line during
the nap, steep line that climbs to just under 100 minutes at the 40 minute mark.
25. Because the stick has the same relative motion as the water, it is traveling at the same speed as the water, so he could time how long it takes the stick to travel a certain distance.
27. 50 m/10 sec = 5 m/sec

6. Answers will vary, but should be something like this. The speed at any given moment during the bike ride would be the very short distance traveled divided by a very short moment in time, or s = d/t. The average speed for the entire race is the total distance traveled divided by the total time.
