Launch Analysis

You will be submitting your work on Wednesday, December 2 after your test.  

1.  You should have the graph that shows your fuel group data taped into your notebook.  Note:

• The data is presented as a scatter plot. 

• The line running through the points is the trend line or the line of best fit.

2.  Answer the questions you copied into your notebook for homework.

If you were absent today, these were the questions that students recorded in their notebooks.

Conclusions

1.  Did the scatter plot show any relationship between mass and maximum height of flight?  Describe the relationship.

2.  How did your rocket launches demonstrate Newton's First Law of Motion?

3.  Newton's Second Law explains that the more massive a rocket, the more force required to launch it.  Suppose you launched two rockets - one heavy, one less massive - using the same amount of force.  Which rocket would you expect to fly higher?  Use your class results and/or Newton's Second Law to defend/support your answer.

4.  Newton's Third Law states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.  How did your rocket launches demonstrate this law?
