This is an overview of ALL of the content that will be on your next test which is scheduled for Friday, February 3.

This page has study games and links to other websites that you may find useful when studying.  Please be sure to read the important information at the top!

2/6 - Review Friday's test; Plate Boundary Map interpretation 2/6 - Section 2.1 in the textbook.  Read. Take notes.  Check your notes. Do your notes address the "Now you will learn..." bullets at the beginning of the section?  Remember, full sentences are not necessary in notes; bullets are usually best for recording the most important information.  Finally, answer the section-end questions #s 2 - 5.

2/1 - The underlying cause is....  (Were you absent today?  If so, please email me for the notes. Hope you come back tomorrow!!!) 2/1 - Study, study, study.
1/31 - Field study in California - assemble your globe (if you did not have time to assemble yesterday) 1/31 - Continue to study nightly.  If you want more study resources, have you checked out your text book?  Find the chapter on plate tectonics.  Can you easily answer all of the section-end and chapter-end questions?  If not, where are your gaps?  Plug 'em!
1/30 - Field study in Nepal - assemble your globe (if time) 1/30 - Study nightly!  Use your notes as well as the resources provided for you in the Things to Know section.
1/27 - Seafloor spreading, subduction; mapping zones on our flat-panel map. 1/27 - Study your notes.  Wednesday's class work must be finished by Saturday night!!
1/26 - Africa's Great Rift - What processes are tearing the horn off of Africa? 1/26 - Study your notes. Complete Wednesday's class work if you are still unfinished.
1/25 - What does the rock on the ocean floor tell us about earth's past?  (Meet in 208.  Click here for the agenda.) 1/25 - Complete today's class work if you did not finish in class.
1/24 - What does the evidence tell you?  What did geologists decide the evidence suggests? 1/24 - Continue to study your notes from earthquakes and volcanoes and look over the new notes we took today.
1/23 - World travel to gather evidence of changes in biology, geology, and climate throughout earth's history 1/23 - Review earthquake & volcano notes, as well as look over the global evidence you gathered today.  Be prepared to tell the class what conclusions you have reached based on the evidence.

January 10 - 13 - Swap Week Whatever Mr. M. assigns you!!
1/6 - Completion of field study; discussion of expectations during Swap Week with Mr. Marialke 1/6 - None.  However, on Monday, 1/16, review this week's work so that you come back on 1/17 ready to jump right back into volcanoes.  I will not be spending any time on topography with you, but it WILL BE on the unit test.  You are expected to study all of the material you learn with Mr. M.
1/5 - Field study in Hawaii  - Hot spot annimation 1/5 - Review.  Complete calculations and questions.
1/4 - Distribute shirt order forms; Notes 1/4 - Review.  Dress for MESS tomorrow!  The lab WILL STAIN if you get it on your clothing.

11/28 - Discuss frequency worksheet and side two option, ear and hearing, presentation assigned (due Thursday) 11/28:
  • Study. Does your notebook have all of the notes? Are your standards' pages complete?  Have you worked on the practice problems suggested in the Things to Know?
  • Sections 13.3 (p.456-457 & 462 only) and 14.1.  Read. Notes. Answer questions: p.460: #1, p. 475: #1-5.  (Ninety percent average and above exempt, however, this part is highly recommended for all.)  Be prepared for a HW quiz on Tuesday.
  • Frequency worksheet side 2 (if your score on side one was less than 80%)
11/22 - Meet in computer lab. Gizmo work day.  Click here for today's agenda. 11/22 - 
  • Study over holiday.  
  • If you did not complete your Gizmo Exploration Guide in class today, please work on it over holiday. It is due on Wednesday of our return.
  • Reflections extra credit is due 11/29.  You must follow the instructions I have provided or else your submission will not be considered for extra credit.
11/21 - Completion of wave properties including speed, frequency, and amplitude. 11/21 - 
  • Review notes so far. (You should now have full notes for standards 6.1, 6.2, and 6.3. We will not be visiting these topics anymore, so it is your responsibility to review them NIGHTLY so that they stay fresh in your mind.)  Be prepared for a quiz tomorrow on properties of waves.
  • Complete practice problems for wave speed and frequency (worksheet handed out today - side one only).  
11/18 - Waves in Action 11/18 - Review notes.  Work on Gizmo for a short while.  Remember that  you will be given 11/22 as a Gizmo work day and that the new due date is 11/30.

11/17 - Read section 13.2 on pages 448-453 and page 478-479. Take notes. Answer questions 1-2 in 'Calculating Speed' and Review questions 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 on page 453As usual, be prepared for a homework quiz. (Exempt if average is 90%+; HOWEVER, you DO have to do the parts above in red.)
11/16 - HW Quiz; Sound Mediums; notes 11/16 - Read pages 505-509 (section 15.1). Take notes and answer questions 1 - 6 on page 509.  As usual, be prepared for a homework quiz. (Exempt if average is 90%+.)
11/15 - Meet in 210 to start our new unit.  If you do not finish in class, you must finish at home!!  Click here for today's agenda.

Rocket launch analysis not turned in on Friday due to absence must be turned in today during lunch/recess! Report to my room as soon as lunch begins.  It will take less than five minutes to complete.

IMPORTANT: You should expect to have a homework quiz the day after textbook work is assigned.  Take good notes when doing your homework! Your notebook is the only tool you will have when taking these homework quizzes.

2nd period AND any students absent on Friday - AFTER your test, please go to Friday's agenda and complete any parts that you did not do. If you do not have time today, you can come back at lunch/recess today.

You will need the whole period, so please begin immediately.  You will need a pencil/pen, ONE sheet of scratch paper, and a calculator. You may use yours, one of mine, or the one on the computer.  As always, READ ALL of the instructions, and read each questions CAREFULLY.

Please pick up a WHITE FUJI style film canister this weekend.  You will need it soon to use as the fuel container for your rocket.  You do NOT have to buy film. Simply go to ANY place that develops film, and ask them to let you have a white empty container.  Do not bring the black Kodak kind.  They will not work.

3)   Gizmo due Thursday.  If you are having ANY difficulty with this lab, do not work on this tonight. We will talk about it tomorrow in class.
