You will have your test on volcanism and topography on Friday. Below are activities to use for practice and review.
Please do them in order.
1. Stratovolcano explanation (similar to our "trip" to Japan)
2. Read the article "Mountains of Fire" and view the movies/animations that are in the article. (Please use headphones.)
3. View and carefully read the explanation for each of these animations:
b. hot spots
c. rifting - We talked about this very briefly mentioning only that Africa was a good example to see where continent was "ripping apart" like ocean floor does. This process is important so go through it carefully.
d. formation of volcanic island arcs (such as Japan)
Have you visited and viewed the field day page? Have you viewed the PowerPoint that explains the different events taking place? You may take up to ten minutes now to view the information or view it tonight at home. Come back to today's agenda when you are finished or in ten minutes!
4. Topography: You will begin this activity today and will continue working on it tomorrow.
a. Review the vocabulary list for topographic maps.
b. Complete the Exploration Guide while working with the Gizmo "Reading Topographic Maps."
c. On Wednesday, you will submit your Exploration Guide answers, so make sure you complete the entire EG BEFORE coming to class on Wednesday.
d. On Wednesday, you will be given time to answer the five questions at the bottom of the Gizmo. Remember - do NOT do this before you submit your answers to the Exploration Guide on Wednesday.
