Earth's Biologic History (continued)

One of the many things that studying the rock of the Earth has revealed is that there many valuable resources we can use today.  For example some rocks and minerals, like gold, silver, or a garnet, are valuable.   If a rock or mineral is usable to extract usable materials, it is called an "ore."

Standard:   Summarize the importance of minerals, ores, and fossil fuels as Earth resources on the basis of their physical and chemical properties.

Even the death of plants and animals millions of years ago has left us with valuable resources we can use today.

Use BrainPop and view the titles "Fossil Fuels" and "Gas and Oil."  Copy and answer the following questions into your notebook.  Use the BrainPops to find the answers!

  1. What are fossil fuels?  List the types mentioned?

  2. How do they form?
